WORK with US
Production Maker
About us
Proffer is a small, growing design and manufacturing studio in Korokoro. We design and make beautiful things — furniture, signage and custom fabrication in timber, aluminium and acoustic materials — for clients across New Zealand and beyond. We care deeply about quality in everything we make.
The role
We're after someone to take on the hands-on production work that keeps our workshop running. As Proffer grows, this person will gradually take ownership of the making. Day to day, the role covers:
- Running our CNC routers
- Edge banding
- Sanding, oiling and finishing
- Packing and dispatch
You'll work closely with the team and have plenty of room to grow into the role over time. Pay depends on the applicant, and we guarantee the Living Wage as a minimum.
What we're looking for
- A proven ability to make things. You've got a real track record of building, fixing or fabricating — whether that's on the job or in your own workshop.
- Comfort with computers. CNC experience isn't essential, but you'll be running computer-controlled machines, so you need to be at ease picking up software and systems.
- An eye for quality and genuine pride in getting things right.
- A desire to grow with us. We're small but growing, and this role suits someone keen to take on more over time.
Nice to have (but not essential)
- CNC or router experience
- Experience with Fusion 360, 3D files and vector formats
- A knack for working with your hands, and experience across a range of materials — timber, panel products, metal and more
None of these is a dealbreaker. For the right person, we'll happily teach the technical side — personality and attitude matter more to us than a specific CV.
Who'll thrive here
Someone who takes real joy from making beautiful things and is genuinely open to experimenting. We develop a lot of our own ways of making, so we're after someone who likes trying new approaches and working out what works. If you love figuring out how to do something better, you'll fit right in.
How to apply
Get in touch with a short note about yourself and, if you have one, examples of things you've made. We'd love to hear from you.
